Do you ever want to save the whole world? Bring hot and healthy food to the hungry, provide shelter for the homeless, and gather those who are hurting and living in fear under your wings, just as a mother duck gathers her fuzzy little ducklings? I have often shared with my husband that if I won the lottery, I would first pay off all of our debt. I would then pay off our children’s and parent’s mortgages or vehicles, and start an education fund for our grandchildren. Next, I would donate to non profit groups that are out in the world, making a difference in people’s lives every day; groups that are being the hands and feet of Jesus. I would get out in the streets and parks and bless whom I could, showing the love of Jesus to all. Sigh. One can always dream, can’t they?

This is Who Jesus is to us. He suffered and died on a cross to save the whole world. This includes the neighbor down the street who drives up and down the road too fast and too loud late in to the night. It includes that coworker who makes you crazy with their constant complaining. It even includes those who do unspeakable things to hurt others, and those who disagree with your own personal opinions and beliefs. Jesus died for every ‘’tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9). He provides for all our needs. All He asks for in return, is to be acknowledged and remembered for Who He is and what He has done. We are called to share His gospel, or the ‘good news’ of His death that washed our sins clean, and the message of hope in His one day returning for His children. He calls us to be holy and blameless and to walk in the way He has shown us by His example. He wants us to seek Him in our times of hurt, and thank Him in our times of joy. Above all, He wants us to love one another.

Could it be a form of worship to our King Who is so worthy of our love and adoration when brothers and sisters in Christ are loving one another? I am sure it blesses the Lord’s heart. I imagine Him smiling down from His massive, golden throne when we work through our differences and put one another’s needs above our own. Maybe He gives us a thumbs up every now and then?

Friends and brothers and sisters, let us stand together in one Spirit, and lift the name of Jesus, united and rooted in His love. Let us run the race He has set before us with honesty, humility, and integrity as our tail wind. We must throw the pride, frustration and anger out of our back pack that is weighing us down and keep our eyes fixed above, waiting and watching for the glorious day of His return.

In Christ,

Amy
